Recent data from IDC and Omdia show that global PC shipments in the third quarter of 2026 declined over 20% year-on-year, shrinking for two consecutive quarters with an expanding decline. Lenovo maintained its position as the global leader with 14.9 million units shipped, but this still represented a 22.6% year-on-year decrease.
Additionally, Citigroup issued a report maintaining its 'Buy' rating on Lenovo Group but cut its target price by 20% to HK$40, factoring in the potential share dilution from convertible bonds and warrants, as well as updated valuations. The bank expects Lenovo's non-GAAP net profit for the second fiscal quarter ended September 30 to reach $1.18 billion, 49% significantly above market expectations; revenue for the period is forecast to surge 33% year-on-year to $27.1 billion, in line with expectations.
The performance is primarily driven by strong growth in the Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG), which is expected to see a 1.35-fold year-on-year increase in quarterly revenue, with an operating margin maintained at 9%, alongside steady development in the Intelligent Devices (IDG) and Solutions & Services (SSG) businesses. Regarding recent supply chain volatility triggered by highly leveraged AI operators, Citigroup noted Lenovo has limited exposure to high-risk new cloud customers, and, combined with robust risk controls and comprehensive accounts receivable insurance, this is sufficient to alleviate balance sheet concerns.
