EET Communications (special report on the 20th) The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) launched extended trading hours on Monday (19th) for its NYSE American Options market, allowing investors to trade eligible options outside regular U.S. stock trading hours, in response to market demand for trading and risk management.
The new arrangement includes two extended trading sessions: the morning session runs from 7:30 a.m. to 9:25 a.m. Eastern Time, and the evening session from 4:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. The initial eligible products include exchange-traded funds (ETFs) such as SPY, IWM, and GLD, as well as options linked to major technology stocks including Apple (US.AAPL), Microsoft (US.MSFT), NVIDIA (US.NVDA), Alphabet (US.GOOGL), Amazon (US.AMZN), and Oracle (US.ORCL).
The NYSE said the extended trading hours will help investors seize investment opportunities and manage risks over a longer period, and plans to extend similar arrangements to the stock market in December this year. (kk)
